Amsterdam, 25th August 2010 – LinkedIn, the world’s largest professional network, today announced two million members in the Netherlands, putting the total of Dutch professionals now on the site at more than 50%. The Netherlands is the network’s most engaged market worldwide including more than 32.000 Dutch LinkedIn Groups. By joining groups, Dutch professionals are participating in interesting discussions, gaining insights and sharing knowledge with other LinkedIn members both at home and worldwide.
LinkedIn allows professionals to establish their online professional identity, connect with trusted colleagues, customers and industry experts and share business insights and information allowing them to become more productive and successful. With 17 million members in Europe, 75 million globally and a new member joining every second, LinkedIn is the world’s largest and fastest-growing place to do business online.
LinkedIn’s Amsterdam office is its first European office outside the UK and was opened in January 2010. Eugenie van Wiechen, country manager LinkedIn Netherlands commented: “We Dutch really get networking. A combination of non-hierarchical culture, strong international business links and high levels of internet penetration has made the Netherlands a strong European market for LinkedIn. At the opening of the Amsterdam office we said we would focus on bringing additional value to Dutch users. Seven months later we are making great progress. We’ve rolled out a live training program for users who are keen to get the most out of LinkedIn and are in constant contact with our members to seek their feedback on how to further improve our platform and services.”
LinkedIn’s Dutch team has expanded from four to 10 staff in six months to keep up with growing demand for its marketing and recruitment products which allow advertisers to reach its affluent, educated and influential member base and gives companies access to the richest professional talent pool worldwide. Today 25% of the FTSE 100 and 60% of the Fortune 100 use LinkedIn’s software tools to search for talent through the network.
One in twenty Dutch users works in IT, making this the most popular industry on LinkedIn. This is reflected in one of the largest groups for Dutch IT professionals, Dutch ICT Professionals with over 13.000 members. More than 20% of Dutch LinkedIn users live in Rotterdam, followed by Utrecht with 19%. Amsterdam is in third place with 18%.
NOTE REMCO: Voor het archief. Maar stel jezelf eens de vraag? Moet ik cool proberen te doen op Twitter (191.000 Nederlanders volgens Twirus) of ben je echt effectief bezig als bedrijf op LinkedIn (tien keer zoveel gebruikers).
